Question from DG2
Dear friends,
Our government has declared digital Bangladesh recently. They have taken a scheme named vision 2021. The view of this declaration is Bangladesh will be digitized by 2021.Now, since Bangladesh is a developing country; it is very difficult to provide ICT facilities to all schools and colleges, especially in rural areas. Now our question to you-
- Do all your schools in your country get same ICT facilities?
- Are all the classrooms provided with ICT materials such as Computer, Internet, Interactive board, Multimedia Projector etc.?
- How does the use of ICT kites make the students more attentive to their studies?
Thank you,

Answer: The present ruling party named Awami league is very much inclined about the use of ICT in Education and making the country digital. The Government has declared Digital Bangladesh recently. Under this they have a plan to provide ICT facilities in all schools and colleges in Bangladesh. Government schools are yet to be equipped with ICT facilities. But many private institutions that follow Cambridge and Oxford syllabus use ICT in most of their classrooms and students are provided with much ICT facilities.
The government has developed some educational web sites where all information and resources regarding education, books, and syllabus and digital contents to use in classes are available.
Here is the link of the web of the A to I Project. Please click the following link to see the web of ICT in Education in Bangladesh.
http://ictinedubd.ning.com,
Our Agrani School and college is one of the pioneering schools that have started using ICT in education. The Government has stated a project named Access to Information (A to I) under which gradually all the schools in the country will be provided with ICT facilities. As the PD of the project is also the Chairman of the Governing Body of Agrani School and College, he has started the training on ICT in education from this institution. We have 15 classrooms with multimedia projectors and internet facilities with computers and other ICT kits.Use of ICT kits make students more attentive in their classes. They get interest in lesson taught. They give more time to studies. They can do their work practically. They can think and work independently. They get rid of the boredom of reading and monotonous classes. They are becoming competent for the changing world where ICT will run the world.

- No, not all schools in this country have the money to afford those ICT Facilities, Our schools has computers but they are not the best but we can work on them and that’s the important thing about ICT Facilities. Sometimes it is very irritating because some of the computers don’t work and then Students can’t use them and have to do their homework at home and have less time for other projects.
2. Not all the classrooms have those ICT Materials, many classrooms have one computer for the teacher to use the Multimedia Projector but the students can only use the computers at special rooms, like the school library and computer rooms. It becomes very handy for the teacher to use the Multimedia Projector to show us students something they could not do on a chalk board.
It is also a lot more fun to work with a smart board because you have more options to point something out with different colours and different shapes.
3. Its more interacting to work with a smart board because our generation is more handy in computers and other electronics. The use of computers and Projectors makes it possible to use PowerPoint to explain things in a different and more fun way to understand it.Working with computers also makes it easier for later when you have a job you already have experience with Word and PowerPoint and all that.Students also like it more to work on computers then write something down on a paper with a pen. Our school also uses a website named Teletop, Teletop makes it possible to write E-mails to teachers and students so you can contact them everywhere. Our school also has a website where you can find information for the following days, maybe a teacher is sick and you have no lessons to follow that day then.

1. do all your schools in your country get same ICT facilities?
No they haven’t. Our school has many ICT facilities, like many (apple) computers, smart boards and internet. In our school you can free on internet with your mobile phone or iPod etc. We use internet a lot when we are at school. We often go on internet during the breaks because we may not use our mobile phones during class L. On other schools you need a password to log in on internet The students don’t have the password only the teachers have it. Some schools are very old and not very digitally but or school is pretty new and very digitally. Every single school may diced on there own what for ICT facilities they will buy they only need the money to buy it. We think that in the future our school is almost completely digitally and that every student has a laptop to work on during class.
2. Are all the classrooms provided with ICT materials such as Computer, Internet, Interactive board, Multimedia Projector etc.?
Almost al the classrooms have ICT materials, like a Interactive board. You can connect your Ipad or computer with it. That is very useful Also, in every classroom is at least one computer. Some classrooms even have table’s with a few computers on it. There are also a few apple computers in our school. We can use them for editing video’s. In the canteen we have an beamer with a huge screen that is sometimes used to show us video’s. On our work floor there are very much computers. We can work on them during the self-study hours. Our school has 2 buildings. One is very new and the other is a little bit older. You can see it is a little bit older because there are not very computers in that building and not much interactive boards. But bit by bit there are more computers and other ICT facilities
3. How does the use of ICT kites make the students more attentive to their studies?
Some times our English teacher shows us videos on YouTube. Most of the time the videos are about the theme of the week or about a English song. Also she shows us documents with grammar explanation on the interactive board. That helps us a lot. We understand it better if she shows us things on the interactive board than when she does it without a interactive board. Other teachers show us also videos on the interactive board. We (the students) use the computers a lot. If we have self study hours we use them to learn words and phrases for tests. We use websites like www.wrts.nl or www.woordjesleren.nl to learn those words/phrases. We can’t image a school without computers. For our generation, learning would be more difficult without them.

Answer from DG5
1. No, not all schools have the same ICT facilities. One school is facilitated better than the other. For example: one school has a computer lab with Ipads and so on, and the other school has separate computers in a regular classroom setting.
2.Almost every classroom has ICT material. The most frequently used ICT Materials at our school are the smart boards and computers. The teachers use the smart boards for showing the students movies or slideshows.
3. Yes, the ICT materials help us with studying. On our school we have some special programs for studying. We use a website called WRTS for learning languages. We also use an online classroom called Magister. It’s a site which requires a password to help us remember what we have to learn. Our grades are also displayed on this website, so our parents can see our grades.

Answer from DG7
Do all your schools in your country get same ICT facilities?
Answer - Not really. Some schools in the rural areas suffer from not having any ICT facilities. The children from these schools are not as fortunate to learn important skills when it comes to computing that they will one day use when working in the workplace.
Are all the classrooms provided with ICT materials such as Computer, Internet, Interactive board, Multimedia Projector etc.?
Answer -No, as previously said, most schools do not have ICT facilities, most will only have a few computers where children will have to take turns using the computers and there will be no internet connectivity because the town itself does not have the infrastructure to provide the school with internet.
How does the use of ICT kites make the students more attentive to their studies?
Answer - It helps because learners of today are more geared to learn with technology and ICT facilities. It satisfies their appetite of technology and make the lessons more interesting. This is why countries that can not provide their schools with ICT facilities should really pay attention to this and try and make it more of their main goal to get it going.

Answer from DG8
Sadly, not all schools in Ghana have access to ICT facilities. The reason being the inability of government to stretch its limited resources to all schools in Ghana. Classrooms in Ghana do not even usually have any of the things mentioned in your question. In Ghana the typical meaning of a classroom is one with desks, black/whiteboard, cupboard and teacher’s table. Typical students will be amazed to find a projector in the classroom which implies that it is not common to find any of the mentioned items in a Public school in Ghana.
Normally private schools or schools that are fortunate will have a room mostly called ICT centre/ICT Lab. In some schools ICT materials such as computers/ Internets are provided and students go there at set times. ICT Kits make the students more attentive to their studies because it makes the lesson more interesting and helps students understand the lessons. The kits also encourage more activities to be done in a shorter time. This makes teaching and learning more fun and less stressful.

- Do all your schools in your country get same ICT facilities?
The Polish government provides ICT facilities to all public schools. However it doesn’t mean all schools have the same equipment. Some schools raise money to buy more/better computers, other take part in different programs (especially run by European Union) and receive money to buy the equipment. Sometimes it is even possible to get ICT facility for school in a commercial contest. Here is an example of such competition organized every year by TESCO supermarkets:

- Are all the classrooms provided with ICT materials such as Computer, Internet, Interactive board, Multimedia Projector etc.?
Our school is unfortunately not very well equipped in ICT devices. We have computer laboratory with 10 computers and three more computers in school library to be used by pupils. We haven’t got an interactive board but there is one multimedia projector and a laptop (teachers can use them on lessons or for presentations during assemblies) There are some more computers for school stuff members: a headmaster, a secretary, a school psychologist and one for the teachers in teachers' room. All computers have the Internet access.
This is our computer laboratory:

And this is our library:

- How does the use of ICT kites make the students more attentive to their studies?
Since we don’t have sufficient ITC equipment, we are very interested every time we use it on lessons. We think use of ITC kites makes learning more interesting, is more involving for students and gives teachers more possibilities to prepare exciting lessons.

ANSWERS
1. All the schools in Slovenia have ICT facilities. We have Internet at all schools in Slovenia and everyone has got Internet at home.
2. There are computers in all the classroms at our school, there is also the Internet and Multimedia projectors. Four classroms have Interactive boards.
3. We use computer for practice at school and at home. Our teachers also give practice for tests on our school's website.
In nearly every classroom we have got computers. We have also got interactive boards in some classrooms. During English lessons we usually need computers and interactive boards for easier and more interesting teaching and learning. During some lessons like Technology, Geography, History and Natural Science we sometimes watch Power-Point presentations or TV.
Our teachers are "e-competent" teachers. They are being educated for this. They use computers a lot for writing down our marks, elective subjects, the number of lessons we were absent from school, printing our reports etc. Some teachers communicate with our parents or us through e-mails.
Our school is not a very big one. Perhaps you can have a picture of it if we write the number of rooms and the numbers of ICT facilities in them.
